What areas of therapy can you help me with?

Grief

Grief can make the world feel unfamiliar. After someone dies, life may continue around you while you feel as though everything has changed.

You may feel devastated one day and almost normal the next. Then angry, numb, guilty, relieved, lost or completely overwhelmed. You might even wonder whether you are grieving “properly”.

There is no single way to grieve, and it's not something that can always be solved. Therapy, however, can give you somewhere to bring all of it.

Anxiety

Maybe your mind won't switch off. You replay conversations, anticipate everything that could go wrong, struggle to relax, or find yourself caught in cycles of overthinking.

You might feel frustrated knowing why you are anxious but being unable to change the pattern.

Psychodynamic therapy can help you explore not only the anxiety itself, but the experiences, relationships and emotional patterns that may be contributing to it.

Trauma

Trauma does not always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes it follows a single overwhelming event. Sometimes it develops through childhood experiences, neglect, abuse, difficult relationships, loss, medical experiences, or situations in which you did not feel safe or able to protect yourself.

Maybe you find yourself anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, angry, constantly alert, struggling in relationships, or reacting more strongly than you understand. Therapy can provide a space to begin making sense of those connections.

Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation

Gender identity and sexual orientation are distinct aspects of who we are. Gender identity relates to how we experience and understand ourselves, while sexual orientation relates to who we may feel romantically or sexually attracted to. Both can be deeply personal, and exploring them can bring feelings of vulnerability, uncertainty, or conflict.

Therapy offers a confidential, supportive, and non-judgemental space to explore these experiences at your own pace. Whether you are navigating questions around identity, relationships, belonging, or societal and cultural expectations, you do not need to have everything figured out. Therapy can be a space to speak openly, without judgement, and explore what feels meaningful and true for you.

Culture and Diversity

Culture can shape how we understand ourselves, our families, relationships, emotions, responsibility, independence, success and belonging.

You may feel too different from your family. Then you may go somewhere else and feel too different there too. You might change the way you speak, behave or present yourself depending on who you are with. You may be worried that English is your second language.

There is space in therapy to explore religion, culture, expectations, values, prejudice, discrimination, and more with me.
